A little about us

Civic Travel is one of Canberra’s longest standing agencies with over 30 years’ experience in business and leisure travel and is positioned for future growth.

We strive to implement technology for efficiency while also being committed to good old-fashioned service principals. Our client-friends appreciate being able to leave all the organising to our experienced team, especially once they understand how much time and effort it saves them, for generally the same cost or better.

We handle most things travel related such as cruises, organised tours, independent arrangements, special interest groups, accommodation and airfares.

Civic Travel is IATA and AFTA accredited which stands for security for you. Being a self-ticketing office allows us control of the airline ticketing process. This matters when it comes to airline changes where tickets require amendments or reissues, regardless of where you are in the world.

Meet the team

Claus Dirnberger
Claus DirnbergerManaging Director
Austrian born, Claus’s experience extends far beyond the travel industry. Having worked for the Department of Foreign Affairs for many years, being a Doctor of Law and also an accredited professional translator, Claus is able to assist English and German speaking clients by providing assistance and advice in situations that are complex in nature. Regular visits to Europe means he’s a great source of knowledge for those planning to visit that part of the world. Claus brings his passion for photography and Africa together by organising his own small group tours.
Ariel Manager
Ariel started in the travel industry over 40 years ago and has experience in both corporate and leisure travel. Her early training shaped her commitment to take care of her clients as if they were special friends and to offer a level of service beyond what is expected. A background in government and corporate travel began with the Victorian Government Travel Authority in the early 80’s, and later American Express Travel in Brisbane and eventually National Australia Bank Travel’s corporate division which she managed for several years before opening an agency for NAB travel. She has also worked in-house at the travel office at the US Embassy and Parliament House.
